Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I have to self-host Locker?
Yes and no. While Locker is in BETA the hosted variant can only be obtained by requesting it. A method to do this will be opened eventually.
Can I use Slash Commands?
Yes.
Locker 1.0.0 has support for both Chat and Slash Commands. Access them by starting to type / and Discord should list all commands with autocomplete features.
What sort of channels work?
As of the current Locker release, it works with the following channel 'types':
Text Channels
Voice Channels
Category Channels
Discord's category permission syncing will make sure to apply the lock restrictions on all channels that are synced. A good way to save yourself having to add a lot of channels individually in the same category.
Lacking Access (Error 50001)
This error means that Locker does not have permissions to view the channel you're trying to lock/add/remove/etc..
Make sure Locker has "View Channel" access on the channel you're trying to do something on.
Lacking Permissions (Error 50013)
This error means that Locker does not properly have the role overrides for the following permissions:
SEND_MESSAGES(Send Messages)SEND_MESSAGES_IN_THREADS(Send Messages in Threads)CONNECT(Connect)SPEAK(Speak)
The above permissions should be automatically given if you used the proper Oauth2 link, but if they are missing from the Locker role then the bot cannot deny them when you lock channels.
This is related to Discord not allowing a role to deny a permission they don't have an overwrite on if they also stand to lose it.
Can Locker do something else than (un)lock?
